The Tavira Humanitarian Center of the Portuguese Red Cross began its activity with the Relief Unit and is currently the largest local structure at national level. Its area of intervention covers four municipalities: Vila Real de Santo António (through its Delegation), Castro Marim, Alcoutim and Tavira, the latter being the municipality with the largest number of social responses.

The Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Clinic performs its Physiotherapy treatments based on manual therapies and resorts to the use of physical agents, in order to promote health and prevent disease, aiming to achieve more quality of life and functionality for its patients.

It performs other types of services, such as transport for non-urgent patients in the Algarve region
and also on long hauls (Faro – Lisbon), it transports patients to physiotherapy clinics, hemodialysis, hospitals and the transportation of children in the municipality, who need adapted transport to schools.

General Objective: Implementation of New Information and Communication Technologies in favour of the Informal Caregiver and the person being cared for, in the four municipalities (Tavira, Vila Real de Santo António, Castro Marim and Alcoutim), in order to reduce the burden of the Informal Caregiver and/or increase their quality of life and well-being.
